LP (Red vinyl) (2020)

Boris headed out on their "LoVE" & "EVoL" Tour through North America, Europe, and Japan, over about 12 weeks from 2019 until February 2020. Their next work was created during the following period while world chaos was breaking out, with the resulting album “NO” first released in digital-only format on Bandcamp, now issued for the first time on CD and vinyl from Blood Sucker Records. As a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, an inevitable period of self-restraint was sprung on all cultures. What Boris did during this period was cleanse and sublimate the negative feelings of many people by making extreme music. This was a revalidating journey for the band, reaffirming the long distance they had traveled. The main axis of the album is Boris’s manner of re-imagination of 1980’s-90’s hardcore punk, probably most evidently expressed in the 2nd fast track “Anti-Gone”, as well as the 9th track “Fundamental Error”, a cover by Gudon (a band representative of 80’s-90’s Hiroshima hardcore). The recording of that song is brought to a refined direction through the role of guest guitarist Katsumi (current member of Solmania), known as the former guitarist of City Indian and Outo, a band representative of the same 80’s-90’s hardcore scene from Osaka. In this way by passing through hardcore as their starting culture, and taking direct influence up until now as their “Non Blood Lore” that is the nucleus they’ve constructed this album around, they’ve managed to complete a “thunderous sound therapy”— words that usually aren’t juxtaposed- through “extreme healing music.”
