Justin Pearson has been a driving force in the hardcore/alternative scene from San Diego and Southern California for more than 30 years. He first came to prominence in the early ’90s with the now-legendary band Swing Kids, and continued to shake up the era with The Locust, known for their striking masked costumes. At the same time, he stayed relentlessly prolific and hyper-active, working in parallel with the super-group–styled lineup of Some Girls.
In recent years, he formed Dead Cross together with Dave Lombardo and Mike Patton, showing no signs of losing his vitality. Deaf Club, formed in 2019, is Justin’s latest band. They have already released a staggering number of EPs and split records through Three One G and Sub Pop, and their first album Productive Disruption showcased a sound overflowing with chaos.
